Train or rest How the call is made

Waiting for your nights

…

Your normal range 7-night average Each night

Why

    Use your own nights

In the Garmin Connect app, open HRV Status and read off your overnight numbers. Type them below, oldest first, last night at the end. Two weeks gives a good call; eight nights is the minimum.

Or drop a file here: a Garmin Connect HRV export, a GarminDB or spreadsheet CSV with a date and an HRV column. A resting heart rate column is used too.

Everything is worked out in this browser tab. Your numbers are not uploaded anywhere.

    Your full recovery report

Patterns across all your nights: how often you were ready to train, your longest run of under-recovered days, which weekday hits you hardest, and whether your HRV is trending up or down. Print it or download every daily call as a spreadsheet.

    How the call is made

Garmin's overnight HRV is compared with your own last 60 nights, not with other people. Values are log-scaled first, the standard way sports scientists handle HRV.

One low night only counts when it drops further than your normal night-to-night wobble. A low 7-night average means fatigue is building over days. A resting heart rate 5 bpm above usual adds weight.

Train when nothing is off. Go easy when one signal is off. Rest when a low night lines up with a low week or a raised pulse.

This is a training guide, not medical advice. If you feel unwell, rest whatever the numbers say.
